MUSIC MINISTRY AT ST. JAMES

The purpose of our music ministry is to support the singing of the assembly, enhance the liturgy with anthems for the prelude and/or the Preparation of the Gifts, add harmony parts to the hymns sung by the assembly. Our choirs offer music in various styles from Gregorian to contemporary.
 ADULT PROGRAM

Rehearsals for the Parish Choir are held on Wednesdays from 7:15 p.m.-9:15 p.m. We sing at the Sunday 10:00 Mass from September through May and perform at the Christmas 10:00 p.m. Mass.

Rehearsals for the Music Ensemble are held on Mondays from 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM. We sing at the Saturday 4:30 Mass once a month from September through May and perform at one of the Christmas Eve Masses.
The majority of our pieces are from the contemporary Genre.
YOUTH CHOIR *

The Youth Choir is open to students from grade 7-high school. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., September through May. The group sings at one weekend Mass each month. In addition, they also perform at one of the Christmas Eve Masses. ------------------

* To be a part of our choirs, prior musical experience is helpful but not necessary.
YOUTH PROGRAM
The Children's Choir is open to boys and girls in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Rehearsals are held in the school during music classes. The purpose of this group is to offer students who enjoy singing, more opportunities to perform, to develop their voices, and to learn a wide repertoire of music. The choir sings at one weekend Mass each month. Additional performance opportunities include: singing once a month at School Mass, at the Naturalization Ceremony, and for the May Crowning.. The Children's Choir *


The Cantor Program is open to students in grades 7-high school and adults who are interested in singing at the weekend Masses on a rotating basis. The purpose of the cantor is to facilitate the singing of the assembly by leading the hymns, acclamations, and proclaiming the responsorial psalm. Individual preparation is necessary. For rehearsal information and to audition, please contact Mr. Marczi.
CANTOR PROGRAM
The purpose of the various instruments is to add different harmony parts and tone color to the singing of the choir and the assembly. Individual instrumentalists (grades 7-high school and adults) are welcome to play at the weekend Masses on a rotating basis. For rehearsal information and to audition, please contact Mr. Marczi.
